Belkin JoyPod: Another Day, Another Fake Apple Rumor
Tuesday, September 2, 2008 0:27Belkin JoyPod: Another Day, Another Fake Apple Rumor
In what clearly appears to be a fake Apple rumor - aimed at generating hits and subsequently cashing money on spreading false information through Google News - it is claimed that Belkin has produced, so called, App Store gaming controller called JoyPod (see photo left).
Anyone, who has ever ‘played’ with Photoshop, will notice that the image is fake and was “doctored” for marketing purposes. Top and bottom edges of this wanna-be controller were conveniently removed with Photoshop, and it looks like this “controller” is foldable. But, how can you fold the screen, which is right in the middle, without breaking it?
It is unfortunate practice, but large percentage of Apple rumors turn out to be fake. This is done to generate hits and make subsequent profit from advertising revenue. Many popular Apple-related web sites make millions of dollars on spreading this kind of false information through respectable media channels.
Belkin International, Inc. is a global manufacturer of computer hardware which specializes in connectivity devices. Belkin sells primarily in the consumer and home user market, but they also make routers, switches, hubs (USB and computer network), cables, uninterruptible power supply devices (UPSs), KVM switches, and other peripherals.
