Adobe Announces Creative Suite 4 (CS4)

Adobe today officially announced the forthcoming release of its Creative Suite 4 family of products. Like its predecessors, CS4 will ship in a number of configurations, including Design, Web, Production, and Master Collection.

The suite incorporates 13 standalone applications, including Photoshop, Photoshop Extended, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects, Dreamweaver, Premier, and InDesign. Thanks to Adobe’s acquisition of Macromedia, the suite will also offer a new level of integration with Flash. And according to the company, workflow issues have been improved across the suite.

Adobe has also greatly expanded its 3D capability with CS4, letting users animate, paint, and composite 3D models. Flash, meanwhile, adds a number of new features, including the ability to apply tweens to objects and create better animations with the new Bones tool.

The Acrobat.com-based Connect Now can now be accessed via InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Photoshop Extended, Flash Professional, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks, while the on-line color profile app, Kuler, can be access through InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, and Fireworks.
